According to a report wind energy industry in Iowa has helped in creating around 80 businesses which also includes 23 in Cedar RapidsIowa City Corridor. The Environmental Law & Policy Center said its report represents wind energy industry in Iowa has created around 2,300 manufacturing jobs which is the highest in when compared to any other state in the country.
Clipper Windpower and Acciona North America set up huge wind turbine depending on the components produced by different kinds of smaller businesses and service providers in Hiawatha, Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, Marion, etc. Interstate Power & Light, NextEra Energy Resources, etc are few developers of large wind farms in Iowa and other companies help in supply chain give towers and blades to uniforms for technician, etc. Apart from the eighty companies involved in wind energy, the Environmental Law & Policy Center has recognized thirty Iowa businesses which can help if demand increases by supplying to the industry.
Howard Learner, the executive director of Environmental Law & Policy Center said there is an increase in business and jobs in Iowa because of wind energy and Iowa can get more businesses through smart policies. Dee Baird, the president of Priority One in Cedar Rapids said wind energy industry will recover very soon by reduced electricity demand, etc and we also expect the same as the report suggested about the wind energy industry. Previously also we have received major suppliers and the geographic location will bring in more European companies to establish a presence in North America.
The Environmental Law & Policy Center located in Chicago is an organization for public interest environmental legal advocacy which is looking places like Iowa to develop and retain renewable energy jobs as it is very important to help these types of states to become a wind energy leader. The report is concluded by suggesting federal policy changes which will compete and refresh the wind energy industry.
