Green Energy Act in Dunnville

Ontario Green Energy Act expects to introduce a Green Energy Act in the neighborhood of Dunnville and few people living in and around that area of Edgewater Place is very angry to see the micro renewable electricity generation project in their area. This is the name which OPA (Ontario Power Authority) uses to these kind of projects which have been approved by the microFIT Program which helps the farmers, homeowners, etc to build a small known as micro renewable electricity project with a size of 10 kilowatts or less on their property.

The microFIT Program pays a guaranteed price for all the electricity produced by the project for around twenty years. The project which is expected at the Edgewater Place includes 4 concrete pads for the solar panels and the footings for one wind turbine. After facing lot of winds during the 2 weeks a part of fence was destroyed in the property which revealed the construction. The people in the surrounding area like Reg Ballard said they must have informed and also added input inside the plans to build the green energy structures.

With the help of enquiries at the County level they have received permission for 4 twenty foot solar panels and 1 three foot ind turbine and on corner of the turbine base is expected to be seventeen feet from the bedroom window said Ballard. Ballard objected the project starting from the Haldimand County staff and he also discovered that County doesn’t have input in the energy project approved by the Green Energy Act.

Craig Manley, the Haldimand County General Manager Planning & Economic Development said the County made few remarks when the green energy legislation was proposed and the remarks were made to the province by Environmental Registry process. The politicians also made few remarks about this project at the ROMA and AMO conferences, he added. Ballard also expects that this project will reduce the property values in the area.
