Kansas is all set to open a holiday gift for the state leaders with a wind turbine manufactures factory for the growing wind-energy industry. The factory is expected to open with 130 workers in the Hutchinson today. Siemens Corp is planning to provide 270 jobs in a few years during the plants operation.
The officials in Kansas said the turbine plant is the best suitable for the wind-energy in the state which will also support in beginning the green-collar economy in the state. Gov Mark Parkinson said they are very much to see this happen and along with Siemens we are planning to develop a strong wind supply chain in our area by which Kansas can easily become a leader in green economy. Eric Spiegel, the chief executive of Siemens said Hutchinson is a central place which will support in delivering big turbines to customers in different places along with a good work force.
Eric Spiegel said there is great potential of wind available in Kansas and US is also the leader of wind market globally. The plant is expected to be used to develop a wind turbine nacelle which is used on top of the base and behind the blades. This nacelle plant is first by Siemens in US and after its completion it will be transported to Washington’s electric utility. The plant is expected to develop around 500 nacelles each year. The plant is expected to develop wind-energy industrial cluster by the leaders in the area which will bring in more business.
Mike O’Neal, the Kansas House Speaker said the introduction of the plant is an important announcement for the state which can begin things that would support the economy. It is also environmentally friendly in the place and also the first one to receive gold status on Leadership in the Energy and Environmental Design certification system.
