China Sunergy joins Pythagoras


China Sunergy Co Ltd and Pythagoras Solar informed that they have entered into a partnership by signing an agreement to develop and scale manufacturing of BIPV products in China from the year 2010 to 2015. Both the companies can capitalize on opportunities provided by BIPV market with this partnership and also by using photovoltaic glass units (PVGU) of Pythagoras Solar.


NanoMarkets, the research firm expected over $600 million in Asia’s BIPV market in 2009 for installation revenues and they expect that it may reach $8 billion in the global BIPV market by the year 2015. Mr Stephen Zhifang Cai, CEO of China Sunergy said BIPV products made by Pythagoras Solar are the starting step for the company where it is trying to develop its technology portfolio and they are expecting to provide a critical partnership with the solar concentrator cells leader and achive most of the benefit.


The agreement says China Sunergy will join Pythagoras Solar to improve the production of PVGU products by supplying around 75 MW of high-efficiency solar concentrator cells in five years. The PVGU products made by Pythagoras Solar contain both insulating and modularity advantages of insulating glass unit. Both the companies will be involved in production and reselling the Pythagoras Solar’s PVGU products by China Sunergy and also provide new solar concentrator cells to improve the BIPV systems.


Gonen Fink, the founder and CEO of Pythagoras Sola said this an important opportunity to develop the business in China and China Sunergy is expected to be support them strongly to take advantage of BIPV products growing demand. China Sunergy has given them the opportunity to scale manufacturing capacity jointly which can improve the possibility of their strengths and technologies, he added. They also expect that the PVGU products triple value benefits will help them to change the green building industry in the commercial market.
