Chevrolet Canada and Hydro-Quebec have entered into a new partnership which will make Hydro-Quebec to integrate twenty Chevrolet Volts into its fleet from 2011. Thierry Vandal, the president and CEO of Hydro-Quebec said they are very happy with this partnership which will permit them to add an extended range technology in their collection of electric vehicle road tests and the vehicles forced by renewable energy will include a major influence on the environmental balance sheet of the company. Hydro-Quebec after joining Volt it is expecting to estimate the environmental benefits particularly in the greenhouse gas reductions.

Quebeckers is expected to identify many Chevrolet Volts from Hydro-Quebec in the second half of next year because they will be used by regional community relations staff and customer service representatives. Marc Comeau, the vice president of sales, service, and marketing of Chevrolet Canada said they are happy to work jointly for the development of vehicle electrification and make the market to face the Chevrolet Volt introduction which will give the customers the freedom to drive green without the battery fear.

The Chevrolet Volt includes around 580 km as the total driving range. Chevrolet says Volt is a kind of electric vehicle which can run without any limitations such as traditional battery EV under full range of climates and driving conditions. The Volt produces zero tailpipe-emissions and also gas-free during the 40-80 km using 16-kWh lithium-ion battery stored electricity and after the battery becomes low around 1.4-litre gas-powered engine engages to increase the driving range of 500 km on full tank.

The Chevrolet Volt is capable of charging with standard 120 volt plug and for faster charging level 2 charging stations can be installed with 240 volts capacity. The Quebec can easily support with level 2 charging station without major electrical work. The Hydro-Quebec will act as a link between Chevrolet Canada and CMEQ (Corporation des maitres electriciens) to make the Volt drivers who want to have these kinds of home charging station very easily.
