An announcement has been made by the United Solar that it has completed and started the operation of the solar power project on Moon Palace Hotel roof top in Cancun, Mexico. The place is owned by the Palace Resorts and it is also the United Nations Climate Change Conference host site. This global event is expected to bring in around 20,000 participants from all over the world.
The participants will start entering Cancun from 2010 November 29 to December 10 to discuss about further plans to decreased the global greenhouse gas emissions. Enel Green Power was the head for the team of the photovoltaic project at the Moon Palace Hotel. Enel Green Power are known as the leaders in renewable energy operators in the world, they also have help from SEMARNAT, Mexican Environment Ministry and Italian Ministry of the Environment.
Mark Morelli, the President and CEO of Energy Conversion Devices, the parent company of United Solar said after selecting as the solar power supplier for the important global conference location shows the ability of the UNI-SOLAR(TM) modules and they expect that this solar power will play an important part in dealing with the global climate change. The Moon Palace Hotel project with a 130 kWp can produce 220 MWh of electricity per year reducing 110 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
UNI-SOLAR(TM) technology was selected by Enel Green Power because of its lightweight characteristics which make it face the severe weather found in the Gulf of Mexico region. Both Enel Green Power and United Solar have joined together for many projects like Interporto distribution center PV power plant in Nola, Italy. The 25 MWp project on the different building is being set up by General Membrane and Ondulit and another projects by both of them includes 3 MWp set up in Marcegaglia factory in Taranto, Italy.
